Upon completing this course, students will be able to:
1) Appreciate the role of primary and secondary sources in painting a picture of the past.

5) Understand and recognize historical biases, assumptions, and competing interpretations of major themes and events.

In H1 World History, students will cultivate their understanding of world history from approximately 800 to 1800 C.E. by analyzing historical sources, learning to make connections and craft historical arguments, and exploring concepts like humans and the environment, cultural developments and interactions, governance, economic systems, social interactions, and organization, and technology and innovation.


H1 World History covers the first half of the AP World History: Modern exam content. Students who go on to take H2 AP Modern World History will finish the content for the exam and receive rigorous exam prep; students not planning to take H2 History are still encouraged to self-study for the AP Exam. This class will focus more on developing your historical writing skills, study and reading habits, and content coverage than AP exam prep.

Reading, writing, and participation are important parts of this class. We will be covering a lot of material, so don't hesitate to speak up and ask questions along the way. Let's work hard, and I hope you will find lots to love about world history!
